Stylin with Kirsty Cane

Bloggers who play together, stay together.

Today, Martini Monday’s spent the day shooting with good friend/fashion & style blogger, Kirsty Cane. Kirsty has been a good friend of mine for years, and is one of the most positive & beautiful souls I know. For daily inspiration and salty goodness, follow her blog and Instagram: // @kirstycane. We are also very happy to announce that we will be working with Kirsty in promoting some of Australia’s hottest fashion labels, so stay tuned!

Set in the heart of North Adelaide, the first photo features Kirsty wearing stunning, ‘Cameo The Label’, pale blue trench coat which can be worn effortlessly in a number of ways. It is a great piece for the in between weather, either worn as a dress, like Kirsty has or with a pair of jeans, boots and a long sleeve tee in the cooler weather!

The second photo features Kirsty in a relaxed, ‘Herpony The Label’ frock, with a pair of, ‘Tony Bianco’, Stylish leather heels, with a  ‘Lack of Colour Aus’ hat to complete the fun and casual look with a bag of ‘Toni & Guy’ goodies in her hand.

We are looking forward to many more shoots together!

Fit Flop – the flops that make you fit!

Morgan here, In July this year I was fortunate enough to undertake an internship with Polkadot PR in Sydney’s Surry Hills for six weeks. This opportunity gave me the chance to work with some seriously cool consumer brands, which we are passionate about here at Martini Monday’s – Delorenzo, Maison Blanche Candles & FitFlop, being our favourite, and we’re not the only ones that think so. Celebrities, Julianne Moore, Alyssa Milano and Brooke Shields are also big fans of the comfy sandals and have been seen showcasing their favourite designs on the streets of Hollywood.

FitFlop, developed by biomechanists, design super comfy shoes & sandals featuring exciting new styles in gorgeous, fresh colours for spring. From the sporty design to the inspired chic-toe thong, this range has everyone covered.

Lovers of the fun brand will enjoy a great selection of styles including; Flora, Kys Leather, Yoko and Lulu Canvas.  The new range has also introduced new textures of beads, sparkles and embellished swathes of leather and canvas.

Their extraordinary comfort not only helps to absorb shock, but also diffuse underfoot pressure, by instantly increasing the contact area of the foot to the mid sole, to ensure maximum comfort. Fashion Blogger and good friend, Jemma Mrdak who I met while interning at Polkadot PR, models the range, showcasing the Superjelly in White and the Kys in Black and Red Leather.

Bubble Soccer Birthday

Just imagine playing indoor soccer…only in a huge blow up bubble. I don’t think we’ve felt this way since the cool kids McDonald’s Party!

My upcoming birthday was the perfect occasion.  Four cars full of friends headed to the Northern Beaches to The Football Factory to play Bubble Soccer.

Running around on the synthetic indoor grass we were like crazy big kids on red cordial.  The referee, threw us some bibs to choose from.  Yellow and orange defined our team colours.

photo 3

How do you get inside the ball? Simply crawl in with the handles in front and wear the straps like a backpack.

With a party of sixteen, some of my “not so fit” friends substituted at half time while the “more active” players (surprisingly myself) chose to play for the full twenty minutes.

photo 4

No words can even fathom how fun it is bouncing around with legs up in the air because you were bowled over unexpectedly. You just have to be there.

LOL the highlights make me laugh every time!  It’s hilariously fun!  Most of my friends and I have neither skill nor fitness and we all had a blast.

Bubble soccer is incredibly fun for all ages, and affordable too.

$30 per person for 1 game or $50 per person for 2 games

Behind The Scenes at Pacha

Move over Ibiza, Saturday 23rd August, Sydney was the place to be. Ministry of Sound hosted their biggest event of the year, Pacha at Ivy Nightclub.

Normally a jam packed night in itself, this particular night was their biggest night of the year with two huge headliners, EDM (Electronic Dance Music) DJs and producers Tigerlily and Will Sparks.

Will Sparks Pacha flyer

On an average Saturday night Pacha gets packed at 10.30/11pm.  Tonight, it resembled a sea of people at 9.30pm. It’s no wonder there was no sign of street parking anywhere!

Ash Street EntrancePeople congregated along the Ash St entrance where you pay entrance fee and have the opportunity to walk Pacha’s people red carpet and feel like a superstar with the Pacha backdrop for photo opportunities.

There are four rooms and two buildings.

  • The main room – featuring a main production stage for Headliner acts, with dancers, acrobats, bright lights, lasers.
  • Level 2 – for the VIP balconies for the best view of the main stage. It costs a minimum of $6k, including VIP balcony hire and a minimum $2.5k spend.
  • The Pool Room – with deep house, lounge music. Where in summer you can swim, and hear the music under water
  • The Change Room – located underneath The Pool Room, playing the best of Hip Hop & RnB

On this particular night, I was fortunate enough to have some VIP privileges along with Redfoo and the Party Rock aka La Freak Crew.  The VIP hostess greeted us on Ash street. After providing us with special wrist bands, we were escorted up the lifts to the VIP balcony.  The area roped of a section including a plush red couch, with white French provincial style seats on either side, and a table lined up with alochol served by our VIP waitress dressed in red and black hooded theme.

I have to say, the view was amazing.  You could over look the balcony to get a better view, feel and vibe of the main stage and the crowd chanting. Even though we were situated on Level 2, you could still feel the bass blasting and drumming on your chest.

not sure if you can see us, we were on the middle balcony!

Floor to ceiling white plantation blinds had been slided over, to reveal a side glass panel to get a full view of the main stage arena.  If I felt my heels were too much to bare, I could sit on a side seat and enjoy the performance and crowd chanting while sitting down.

Stage left of the main production stage, was the DJ Booth.  This turns into the “green room” for the Headliner DJ’s and the promoters to chill out with friends before and after their set.  It’s here that I get to meet the beautiful turquoise hair Tigerlily after her awesome performance!

Tigerlily and Tee

Overall this was a fantastic night, filled with good vibes, energy and entertainment. It was more of a Redbull and Vodka occasion than Martini cocktail event, but who are we to discriminate?

Coogee and Corona’s

Last Tuesday, we teamed up with fashion & food Blogger, Kim Parslow (@sweetmondays, check out her blog for great styling tips for a fun filled day in Sydney. Starting off in Coogee, where we visited the Coogee Pavilion for the first time.

After hearing countless great reviews about the new attaraction we thought we would try it out for ourselves.  Nothing short of an average lunch destination, Coogee Pavilion is your one stop shop, offering a range of different lunch bars from a seafood, pizza and sushi bar, where you can pick and chose what you would like, to a fully equipped kitchen. The Pavilion is completely beach themed, from the furniture, to the structure of the bar and everything in between adding an extra touch to the ‘beach’ experience.

We were surprised at how busy it was, being a Tuesday afternoon, we struggled to find a seat. We sat to the front of the bar on a high cork table and decided to try one of their delicious pizza’s along with their beer battered onion rings and oven roasted potatoes, with chilli aoli, and seeing as it was #TreatTuesday we thought we would indulge in a carona. Their delicious menu made it hard to decide which one to go with! We went with margarita to compliemnt our side entrée’s which went perfectly with our corona’s.

Our pick of the day

After lunch we went for a nice stroll on the beach, it was a little windy but who are we to complain in the middle of winter! We finished off with a coffee at Coogee Caféand then headed back to the city, to enjoy an afternoon of shopping.

If you’re looking for a new place to try, we recommend giving Coogee Pavilion a go, whether it be for a coffee with a grilfriend, drinks on a Saturday afternoon, or lunch on a Sunday, you won’t be dissapointed!

High Tea Heaven

Our French friends over in Paris have added their touch to high tea in Sydney and created an array of irresistible delights in the heart of the CBD, at Pitt Street Mall. Surrounding Chanel, Mui Mui and Prada you will find high tea heaven at the Laduree pop up store, delivering an array of delicious delights including their mini sized French cakes (which go perfectly with their selection of tea’s) and of course, their famous macaroons, our favourite being pistachio, raspberry marshmallow and salted caramel.

high tea 1

Throughout British history, High Tea was considered a very important event in the social calendar for Ladies. Anyone who has been to London can agree that this activity is thoroughly enjoyed by all, I mean how could you say no to an array of delicious desserts, mini sized sandwiches and a cup of Earl Grey Tea.

After a long, hard day of shopping on Oxford street, or should I say Sydney’s finest boutiques, we joined English friends, April and Kim for high tea at Laduree. Where we enjoyed a taste of each mini French cake on offer, a pot of Earl Grey Tea and a selection of macaroons.  Whilst we were sitting down enjoying our tea we couldn’t help but notice the gorgeous setting that we weer sitting in. We really felt like we were in Paris.  The only thing missing were the scrumptious desserts from the menu, however, something must be saved for the real Laduree experience in Paris!

Pad-Thai Perfection

I’ve eaten many a pad-Thai around Sydney, and even tried the authentic flavours from its place of origin, right in the heart of Thailand. Out of all the places I’ve eaten, including fancy restaurants with beautiful scenery decor to smaller take-away style venues, my favourite pad-Thai to ever touch my taste buds, hands down is a humble dine-in & take away spot in Willoughby, North Shore of Sydney called Thai Noodle Hut.

Located at 339 Penshurst Rd, closeest intersection being Victoria Rd, walking by, you wouldn’t think it was anything to rave on about, until you see how busy it gets after 6pm, even on week-days.

Thai Noodle Hut location

With a clear glass door entrance, on the left you can see the line of chef stations busily preparing and cooking up a storm, as well as the line of customers who wait patiently to pick up their delicious order. On the right, you can see the customers seated amongst the black and orange tables and their faces as they are enjoying their meal.

Waiting for my meal, I face towards the flat screen TV so I don’t miss X-Factor & occasionally I see the sparks and flames flare alive from the stove, keeping me in awe and in suspense whether my order is being cooked next. Just the thought of my vegetarian curry puffs, satay and pad-Thai coming, makes my mouth salivate. My eyes light up when I see the waiter come with my order. The service here is efficient. It wasn’t even that long after I paid with my card for my meal, when he approaches; maybe around 10-15 minutes? As I take my first! How can I even describe to you in words..

Pad Thai with your choice of Chicken, Beef, Pork, Prawn or Vegetables.

The taste of the pad-Thai is a perfect balance of lemongrass, peanut, your choice of meat (chicken, beef or pork) and other secret Thai ingredients (I know not what) with thin flat noodles topped off with the fresh juice of a lemon on the side, squeezed on top to your liking. Other places I find they are too peanut sauce heavy, or oily or stingy on the meat – but not here, this recipe is literally a perfect balanced of flavours.

Prices are very reasonable only $12-$15 for an average main meal. The portions are very generous, so the value and bang for your buck is amazingly economical and perfect for a student or anyone on a budget. If I had take away, as a petite girl, I can eat half for dinner and the other half for tomorrow’s lunch.

Dinner for two and an entree only cost $30. Who says money should get in the way of quality food!

If you love Thai food, especially Pad-Thai in particular, I highly recommend you stop by Thai Noodle Hut and try for yourself.

My favourite dishes include: Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Chilli Basil Noodles & Laksa for a main meal, while Vegetarian Curry Puffs, Spring rolls, prawn money bags and chicken or beef satay are my ideal entree selections.
