Behind The Scenes at Pacha

Move over Ibiza, Saturday 23rd August, Sydney was the place to be. Ministry of Sound hosted their biggest event of the year, Pacha at Ivy Nightclub.

Normally a jam packed night in itself, this particular night was their biggest night of the year with two huge headliners, EDM (Electronic Dance Music) DJs and producers Tigerlily and Will Sparks.

On an average Saturday night Pacha gets packed at 10.30/11pm.  Tonight, it resembled a sea of people at 9.30pm. It’s no wonder there was no sign of street parking anywhere!

There are four rooms and two buildings.

  • The main room – featuring a main production stage for Headliner acts, with dancers, acrobats, bright lights, lasers.
  • Level 2 – for the VIP balconies for the best view of the main stage. It costs a minimum of $6k, including VIP balcony hire and a minimum $2.5k spend.
  • The Pool Room – with deep house, lounge music. Where in summer you can swim, and hear the music under water
  • The Change Room – located underneath The Pool Room, playing the best of Hip Hop & RnB

On this particular night, I was fortunate enough to have some VIP privileges along with Redfoo and the Party Rock aka La Freak Crew.  The VIP hostess greeted us on Ash street. After providing us with special wrist bands, we were escorted up the lifts to the VIP balcony.  The area roped of a section including a plush red couch, with white French provincial style seats on either side, and a table lined up with alochol served by our VIP waitress dressed in red and black hooded theme.

I have to say, the view was amazing.  You could over look the balcony to get a better view, feel and vibe of the main stage and the crowd chanting. Even though we were situated on Level 2, you could still feel the bass blasting and drumming on your chest.

not sure if you can see us, we were on the middle balcony!

Floor to ceiling white plantation blinds had been slided over, to reveal a side glass panel to get a full view of the main stage arena.  If I felt my heels were too much to bare, I could sit on a side seat and enjoy the performance and crowd chanting while sitting down.

Stage left of the main production stage, was the DJ Booth.  This turns into the “green room” for the Headliner DJ’s and the promoters to chill out with friends before and after their set.  It’s here that I get to meet the beautiful turquoise hair Tigerlily after her awesome performance!

Overall this was a fantastic night, filled with good vibes, energy and entertainment. It was more of a Redbull and Vodka occasion than Martini cocktail event, but who are we to discriminate?
